Sunday of Orthodoxy Procession (1st Sunday of Great Lent)

March 11, 2022 at 4:40 pm

Glory to Jesus Christ!

On Sunday, 13 March, we will celebrate the 1st Sunday of Great Lent, also called the Sunday of Orthodoxy. It is here, and through the rest of Great Lent on Sundays, that we begin to serve the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great. In addition, after the Divine Liturgy on the 1st Sunday of Great Lent, we will have a procession with icons and serve the Rite of Orthodoxy (i.e., a brief service in commemoration of the affirmations of the Seventh Ecumenical Council in 787 and the restoration of the use of icons in 843).

If you would like to participate, please bring a favorite icon from home or feel free to use one from the church.

Praying for Ukraine

March 3, 2022 at 12:03 pm

In solidarity with and for those suffering and under attack in Ukraine, Four Evangelists Orthodox Church held a moleben (service of intercession) followed by a panikhyda (memorial service) on Wednesday, 02 March.

We are thankful for the guests that were able to join us, including Archimandrite Fr. Constantine Moralis from the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore, MD and Mr. John Sobchak from International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). Afterwards, Mr. Sobchak shared ongoing initiatives that IOCC has in place to offer relief to Ukraine, as well as how parishes and individuals could join in that effort.

As the aggression continues in Ukraine, please stay tuned for more opportunities that we, as a parish community, might pray for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Russia, and abroad.
