New Sidewalk at Four Evangelists

22 April 2019 at 13:30

Thanks to our own parishioner Connor Seeley, along with help from Boy Scout Troop #777, we have a new front sidewalk! Connor is working hard on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and this sidewalk project is part of that endeavor.

The new walkway runs parallel to the entry ramp and connects the side parking-lot sidewalk with the front entrance steps. The sidewalk will be great asset to our property and comes at a perfect time, as we will be using the sidewalk to process around the church on several occasions during Holy Week and Pascha.

Thank you Connor! And thanks to Troop #777 for helping!

Feast of the Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday)

18 April 2019 at 15:00

By raising Lazarus from the dead before Your passion, / You did confirm the universal Resurrection, O Christ God! / Like the children with the palms of victory, / We cry out to You, O Vanquisher of death; / Hosanna in the Highest! / Blessed is He that comes in the Name of the Lord!

Troparion for the Feast of the Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday)

Please join us on Sunday, April 21, for the Great Feast of the Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday). The blessing of palm branches will follow the Divine Liturgy. Vespers for the feast begins at 6PM on Saturday, April 20th, and the Divine Liturgy begins at 9AM on Sunday, April 21, with the Prayers of the Hours immediately preceding.

The readings from Holy Scripture are: Genesis 49:1-2, 8-12 (Vespers, 1st reading), Zephaniah 3:14-19 (Vespers, 2nd reading), Zachariah 9:9-15 Vespers, 3rd reading), Matthew 21:1-11, 15-17 (Matins Gospel), Philippians 4:4-9 Epistle, and John 12:1-18 (Gospel).

Of this day we are told:

This day together with the raising of Lazarus are signs pointing beyond themselves to the mighty deeds and events which consummate Christ’s earthly ministry. The time of fulfillment was at hand. Christ’s raising of Lazarus points to the destruction of death and the joy of resurrection which will be accessible to all through His own death and resurrection. His entrance into Jerusalem is a fulfillment of the messianic prophecies about the king who will enter his holy city to establish a final kingdom. “Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of an ass” (Zech 9:9).
