Today is the prelude of God’s goodwill / and the prophecy of the salvation of men. / The Virgin appears openly in the temple of God / and foretells Christ to all. / So let us cry to her with loud voices: / Rejoice, thou who art the fulfillment / of the Creator’s providence.
Troparion of the Entrance of the Most Holy Mother of God into the Temple
On Thursday, November 21, our Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Mother of God into the Temple. Please join on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00PM, as we celebrate this great occasion with the Vigil for the Feast. All are welcome!
This Feast is one of the 12 Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church and commemorates the dedication of Mary to the service of God by her righteous parents, Saints Joachim and Anna. In the Western Christian tradition this day is commonly called the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Mother of God into the Temple “foretells God’s blessing for the human race, the preaching of salvation, the promise of the coming of Christ“.
